Professional Experience

Lucian C. Chen practices general intellectual property law with an emphasis on complex pharmaceutical and biotechnology patent litigation under the Hatch-Waxman Act.  He has litigated patent cases involving antifungals, osteoporosis therapies, oral contraceptives, and cholinesterase inhibitors. Mr. Chen also has significant experience in preparing pre-suit investigations, non-infringement opinions, and intellectual property due diligence.

Prior to becoming an attorney, Mr. Chen was Founding Editor-in-Chief of BioProcessing, a peer-reviewed scientific journal focusing on the industrial biotechnology industry. His decade-long journalism career includes experience as Associate Managing Editor of Genetic Engineering News, the leading trade publication of the biotechnology field, as well as Managing Director for a group of science websites. Mr. Chen's background is in molecular biology and he has published in other peer-reviewed journals.
